Members of the newly inaugurated Media Advocacy Team of the Abia State Internal Revenue Service has been charged to showcase their intellectual ability to the general public by being dedicated to their duty and work with maximum speed and accuracy to deliver the needful necessary to create positivism in their work to ensure timely tax payments by Abia Tax payers. The Ag. Chairman / Chief Executive of the Abia Internal Revenue Service, Mr Celestine Boyle Ahaoma Agbara while inaugurating the Media Advocacy Team in his office said that the inauguration is based on the fact that people working together for revenue generation in the State with ease and less stress and distractions as experienced in the past will help enlightened Abia tax payers to play their roles in making their tax payments as expected . He said that some of our actions which are considered fruitful should be communicated to the general public to enable them comply but situations where we fail to communicate such information does not augur well for revenue generation in particular and the State in general hence the appointment of the 8 members of the Media Advocacy Team to propagate activities of the Board to enable Tax payers and Revenue/Levy payers get information propagations from the Media as the Board are poise to market it effectively. Continuing , The Ag. Chairman, Abia IRS said that if the numerous Multi - Million Naira National Companies operating in Lagos and other major cities of the Country are replicated here , the State will be generating huge revenue and advised members of the Media Team to work as a team which is the best tool to work with in the connected economy to yield good result. In her vote of thanks , the Director , Direct Taxes , Mrs Ngozi Ibe -Onyike on behalf of members of the Media Team thanked the Ag. Chairman for finding them fit to do the job and promised to put in their best to ensure that adequate enlightenment and advocacy of the Board's activities is communicated to Abia Tax payers through the Media for increase in the State Internally generated revenue. Traders in Abia State have been informed that the Enforcement Team of Abia State Government on market approved taxes and levies collection will start collection drive in all the markets starting with Ekeoha shopping Centre ,Aba on Tuesday, 1st September, 2020. The Age. Chairman/Chief Executive Abia State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Celestine Boyle Ahaoma Agbara made the assertion in a statement in his office . Mr Agbara said that the on going sensitization of traders by their executives which started on 27th August , 2020 is in line with Government policy on revenue collection. He said that the approved total amount for taxes and levies remain Eighteen Thousand Naira only for traders while total amount not paid at all must be paid or complete the remaining amount on initial payment made.

Making the call, the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, FCT Chapter, Barrister Hauwa Shekarau asserted that beyond the higher institutions of learning, sexual harassment has eaten deep into the fabric of society. While acknowledging the National Assembly for deliberating on the sexual harassment bill, Shekarau who was guest speaker at the webinar, argued that the scope of the bill should be expanded to cover sexual harassment in the workplace and society at large. She argued that sexual harassment used to be difficult to prove but now, in the age of the GSM and Social Media, it has become possible to have evidence to present at the law court.
